From the capital, Alicante, traveling south along the N-332 road taking the Alicante-Cartagena direction, you reach La Marina before Guardamar del Segura.
There you will find a 14 Km. Beach bordered by naturaly protected park land, again comprising of pine trees, palms and eucalyptus.
Together with its large dunes, this makes La Marina a fine natural area.
The dunes with their pine woods are of special ecological interest.
La Marina beach, from Elx, is an unspoiled beach of golden sands and blue waters.
The Blue Flag of the EU waves over the beaches of La Marina, symbolizing clean water and quality beaches, which are equipped with a full range of installations and services.

CLIMATE
La Marina boasts a typically Mediterranean climate with mild winters and moderately hot summers.
There is no great variation in temperature throughout the year, with temperatures oscillating between an average of 26ºC in summer and 17ºC in winter.
There is little rainfall and what there is mainly occurs in spring and autumn.
There are occasional torrential downpours, especially in autumn.
Such downpours are due to the heat that has accumulated in the layers of cloud colliding with the cold fronts that arrive from the North Pole.

 Elx Palm Grove
Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2000,
the Palm Grove has over 200,000 palm trees.

 The Mystery of Elx
The Mystery of Elx, now a UNESCO World Heritage event as of 2001, is a festivity listed as being of international tourist interest, consisting of a sacred/lyrical drama inherited from the 15th century whre actors perform the last few days of the Virgin Mary, her death, her ascension to heaven and her coronation. Popularly known as the "Festa" or "Feast", it is traditionally held on two succesive days, August 14 and 15, in the Basilica of the Assumption of Saint Mary of Elx and is the only play of medieval origin permitted in the interior of the temple, having survived down the through the ages to our day. On even-numbered years there are extraordinary performances on 29 and 30 October, and on 1 November.
